Some challenges faced by a student with a learning disability is:
Anger & frustration at not being able to do the work required.
Low self-esteem & feeling inadequate at their own skills, often exacerbated by others who are not encouraging & supporting of their learning disability.
Behavioural problems if their have not being diagnosed yet, or the correct supports are not put in place.
Anxiety when trying to do set tasks, especially new tasks.
Being a victim of bullying which exacerbates their low self esteem and feelings of inadequacy, and may even increase behavioural problems.
Their parents may not be able to afford to purchase or provide assistive technology e.g computer programs that assist students with learning disabilities. Read & Write Gold cost around 0 plus.
How can a teacher support a student?
Being qualified in the field of learning disabilities is vital, or at lest have sound knowledge in learning disorders.
A sound knowledge of the type of learning disability their student has, and then they can put in proven strategies that will aid the student to learn.
Followed by a lot of patience and a encouraging & supporting environment, that includes a clear and comfortable working area, with good lighting.
Having access to assistive tools, such as computer programs, coloured paper, pens & pencils grips (can help with those who have problems with writing) etc. And being creative and abstract in engaging the student.
My daughter and I both have a learning disorder, Dyslexia & Dyscalculia and my daughter also has Dysgraphia.

Nowadays, only shady people use the word “schmaltzy”. The intention, really, is to make fun of pop music that has to do with the subject of “love”. Satan wants a dark planet. What would help him to rule here is the subject of “love”, such as in pop songs, to being ridiculed and therefore destroyed. So to all the shady people out there, come out of the dark, it‘s not too late…I should know, from learning about myself.
