I wanted some material to use at home to supplement what my kids (both 3.5) are learning at their highly structured daycare. This book is designed for a classroom use but there is a lot in it that can be used with one or two kids at home with some modifications. You don’t have to make flannel board pieces for instance, I copied the patterns and just colored them and used them on the floor, the kids got as much out of them. There are some of the exercises that aren’t doable without 6 kids or so but there is enough in the book to justify the cost. I spent more than this on those monthly installments from that one club that sends a workbook every month, this book is a lot more useful.

I love this book. I purchased it two years ago when teaching at a church-based preschool. Now, only 4 months away from graduating with my degree in Early Childhood, this book has been a lifesaver. I love the different uses of a particular theme, and how using different approaches will successfully reach children who use different learning skills. My book came apart a long time ago – I simply used a three hole punch and a binder to restore it. This method makes copying much simpler, since there are so many patterns included in the book. It’s a GREAT buy!

I have taught five and six year olds for years. This year I’ll be working with four year olds. I bought about a dozen books to help with my programming but this really is the only book I needed to buy. It’s FANTASTIC! It tells you what to do for morning circle, story ideas, music and movement ideas, a range of learning centres that cater for the preferred learning styles of the children and then ideas for reflection in the closing circle. It does all this on hundreds of themes and then gives assessment ideas too. I LOVE THIS BOOK.

This book will sound and read like THE COMPLETE RESOURCE BOOK, but it contains a much better set of activities with relative connection to each other. Check out both books by Pam Schiller. Try both of them if you wish because you could pull activities from both of them; however, you probably will only find yourself needing to by one of these two nice books.

This book contains many great ideas and really relates to the many different learning styles that children have. It is layed out in an easy to read format. I found this book to be very helpful especially for my in-home child care business.
