Question by fleefee: How can I get financial help for my child to get help at an after school learning center?
My child has a learning disability but is not recieving the help he needs in public school. He has had several assessments at different learning centers and have been guaranteed improvement if he attends their program. However; the cost is ,000 or more. Are there ways to afford this program for my child?

Is this one of those advertised learning centers? I know them to be very expensive… and I don’t know if anything is ever really guaranteed… I know at least at one of my old schools teachers/staff tutored on their spare time, which was cheaper. (And even better quality I think) Have you talked with the school? Maybe they could offer some advice.

Advocate for your child and make sure they get the help they need in the public school. That is your only “free” source of help.

The school should be educating your child, you should not have to pay for outside help.
YOu have to FIGHT , learn the laws, learn the correct process in getting your child help from the school.
Every state has an advocacy agency that helps parents for free.
Call your state dept of education and ask for the ‘federally funded parent advocacy agency’
