Question by kennyjoi: what is a good private school for child with learning dissabilites in MA?
My daughter is going into 4th grade. She is on an IEP and I don’t agree with her suggested placement. My advocate thinks we should look into private schools. Anyone’s child in a private school in MA for learning dissabilites?

I disagree with your advocate. Children with learning disabilities should be educated in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). A school that has only children with disabilities is very restrictive. The child needs to be around her non disabled peers for many reasons, #1 being socialization. If you do not agree with the placement, call another IEP mtg, YOU are the boss. Refuse to sign it if your daughters needs are not being met. Under the law, all children are to receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), your daughter’s is not Appropriate, work with the IEP team and continue to advocate for her.

I took Kole to the Body’s Exhibit in the Luxor Casino, we were able to see actual human specimens. The exhibit includes all bones, muscles, nerves, arteries, veins and all systems in your body. I also got to show Kole what a smoker’s lung looks like, also cancers, and fetus’s. it was a great learning experience! Also we went to Caesars Palace to get my new laptop and the kids some computer games
