This nanny was provided to us by Nanny Services of Northern Nevada. Nanny Services of Northern Nevada screened this nanny for safety and on the job skills. Nanny Services of Northern Nevada charges a premium for their “screening” and “placement” services. This nanny was listed on Nanny Services of Northern Nevada’s reference list and was presented as one of Nanny Services of Northern Nevada’s most reliable and thorough nannies. As you can see, the nanny is shown on video encouraging her 10 month old daughter to play with our 4 month old infant. Like some bad version of baby cage fighting, she leaves them unattended: may the best baby win the smackdown. The 10 month old then hits our infant in the head and scratches her eyes. Only when the infant screams does the nanny then realize that maybe leaving them unattended is a bad idea. Nanny Services of Northern Nevada told us there were no issues with the screening or on the job skills of this nanny. Nanny Services of Northern Nevada characterized this as a “communication” issue and to our knowledge, has kept this nanny on their placement roster. Nanny Services of Northern Nevada told us that this was a problem of “poor fit” between us and the nanny and not of concern to Nanny Services of Northern Nevada.

Question by B.Squig: How much should I charge per hour for nanny services?
I’ll be a nanny for one week for a family vacationing near my house this summer. I’ll be taking care of two 17 month olds, a 3 year old, a 4 year old, and a 5 year old for 7 hours a day. I will also be taking care of a 9 month old for approximately 15 hours that week, in addition to the other 5 children. How much should I charge for my services?

If you are n California, Connecticut or any richer state, or if the family is from any of these places, 20 bucks an hour is decent.

If not, than you might want to reduce it to 15 or even 10.
