Meds For ADHD – Getting The Truth So Your Child Benefits

Meds for ADHD are often compared to a band aid for a cut finger. It may stop the bleeding for a time but it is going to be marginal really in healing the skin and so on. That is a similar process to the ADHD meds for kids because they are not doing anything at all to really treat the condition. Of course there is no cure so the medication is just to make life bearable and believe me, it very often does make life easier for many parents and children.
But the advantages and benefits really stop there because while hyperactivity, restlessness and squirming may all improve, nothing is being done to really help the child to cope with life.
What happens when the benefits of the meds for ADHD wear off? We medicate again and we even have extended release medications to cope with all that. However, one of the world’s greatest experts on ADHD, Dr. William Pelham, has now revealed that after two or three years on these ADHD meds, the effects become weakened and at the end of the day, we have a medicated child who still has problems in behaving, learning and in coping with life.
There is no need to dwell here on the side effects of this type of medication as they are well known. If you really need a scary moment, look at the FDA website and you will see all their warnings about giving these meds to small children. Suffice it to say that the FDA are taking no chances! Why should you take a chance?
Am I a loving helpful parent? Have we made our home an ADHD friendly one? Is our home a place which is actually a happy place where frustration and anxiety are rare visitors? These are the questions that should be in the forefront of our minds as parents and we know in our hearts that no meds for ADHD can provide this sort of loving and supportive environment.
Instead of worrying about side effects, appetite, when to take the next dose, we should really be concentrating on the questions I have asked above. Above all, it is the implementation of behavior modification techniques or simply more effective and supportive parenting which is really going to make the difference. This is the truth that many parents never actually discover.
As regards some form of medication instead of the meds for ADHD such as Adderall and Vyvanse which are nothing more than amphetamines, why not check out homeopathic remedies for ADHD?
These can restore the lost balance because of the holistic approach. They can calm a child, soothe nerves, and generally lift mood while you can get on with the real task of parenting. There are no side effects either and they are much cheaper as well.
I have built a web page to explain all this. Why not check it out now. There are no black box warnings!

Hollywood stars have it all looks, fame and money but this does not stop them from suffering from some odd obsessive compulsive disorders. We all have little ticks which can annoy other people but you would not expect the rich and famous to suffer from compulsions which lead to obsessive cleaning when they have the money to get people to do everything for them.

Depression has no single cause; often, it results from a combination of things. You may have no idea why depression has struck you. Whatever its cause, depression is not just a state of mind. It is related to physical changes in the brain, and connected to an imbalance of a type of chemical that carries signals in your brain and nerves. These chemicals are called neurotransmitters.

Is ADHD Treatable? – Looking At The Best Possible Options For Your Child
The American Academy of Pediatrics has come out strongly against kids of a very tender age, for example two years old, watching too much TV. The reason is because there is a link between too much TV and the appearance later on of ADHD. That link has not been definitely established but it will certainly make us think about the home environment we provide when addressing the whole question, is ADHD treatable?

Is ADHD Hereditary? – Looking At New Perspectives To Help You Raise Happier Kids
They say that the question, is ADHD hereditary, can be answered by reflecting that it has the same probability of an inherited trait such as height. That is a pretty high percentage. Others say that that one in four children who may have ADHD are bound to have a close relative or other family member with the same condition. It seems that if you notice the same disorganisation, distraction and multi tasking in one of your children, it could well be that you both have ADHD!

Causes Of ADHD In Children –Looking At Different Treatment Options Which Work Better
I have just read an interesting article in Clinical Pediatrics where Dr. Ruff argues that one of the possible causes of ADHD in children could be our modern lifestyle. He explains in that article that because we are so consumer oriented and rely so much on gadgetry to get things done, this has an impact on the child’s brain which is very delicate at this stage.

Looking At The Causes Of ADHD And Safer Treatment Options
The causes of ADHD have occupied many experts up to now. The results are that there is no one main cause although there are a number of major factors that come into play. The first one of the main causes of ADHD is that there seems to be a malfunctioning of some areas of the brain which are connected with our ability to make decisions, attention and concentrate.

Treating ADHD In Children – Costs, Problems And Safer Alternatives
Did you know that treating ADHD in children can be three times as much as medical treatment for a normal child ?
