Question by danman2_2999: How do I design a web site for a child day care?
My mother has a child day care and she wants to get a website up for her business to help with advertising and to give her an edge over her competition. With that said, we would like an informative website as professional looking as possible, within a moderate budge of course. I have worked with many computers, but never worked on the HTML side of things….I am pretty lost and was hoping others can give me some advice on advertising and getting the website up. Thanks!

You can find step by step guide on how to design a website at website like http://oktutorial.com/webdesign.htm ,etc .
The best advice is: Don’t try to go from “Never having written HTML” to “Publishing a website to represent a business” in a short time.
Hire a professional to do it.
If you want to learn to do it yourself, then http://opera.com/wsc/ is the best starting point.
My idea is: you don’t have to upload as you design the pages that will make the website. html / javascript is not difficult at all. you do need a book. the public library will have a book on basic html. The javascript, get a book like “The JavaScript, the Complete Reference.” You will need that.
Get started with a folder on your hard drive. Use your browser to begin exploring the links you create. Show it to mom and incorporate more ideas. Then, get a free GeoCities yahoo! account. Upload to that, making more discoveries. The GeoCities free account is cluttered with ads, but you begin to appreciate web dev. THEN, pay for a host site if you don’t find something else like GoDaddy.
good luck, my friend. javascript was my path to programming and it’s fun.
Try Blink Web or Wix, their easy to manage free website (or blog) has cool features that include drag and drop capability, switch designs on the fly, youtube and google video, custom html, upload images, flikr photo gallery, visitor stats and more. You can also buy a new domain instantly, or host your existing domain for free and make it your own (www.yourown.com)
If your looking for something more advanced but still user friendly then try XsitePro, Sitebuilder Designs or Calvary Studios, they have everything you need in building your own website: domain name registration or domain transfer, web hosting, web builder, site maintenance and email accounts. Everything is laid out in an easy to follow step by step instruction. Some of the features included enable you to add your own themes, videos, images or mp3 music making your site unique to you. Pricing is comparable and affordable too.
I hope that I was of some help and answered your question.
Try a free website service, like Webs.com (formerly Freewebs).
Webs will let you use one of their templates, or, if you want, use custom HTML.
Also, please check out my free logo service, http://www.benzign.webs.com/. It’s easy and completely FREE, so if you’re in need of a logo (you should definitely get one if you dont already have one) please check it out.
I’d also be willing to help you out with the html, if you want (again, for free). I’m not an expert, but I’m pretty good, so just let me know if you want help by posting a message in my shoutbox on my logo website.
