Question by jenn: Early Education?
i have been thinking about going to school for early Education. what would i need to study in school for this. and should i try to find a job at a day care center to have more experience? i worked with the special kids in high school and i just loved it . and i think it could be a good career for me

Good for you! You need to have a passion and patience for working with kids – especially young ones. You may want to try out a daycare setting – though some, like Goddard, can’t hire you until you graduate high school. A word about daycares… if you don’t like babysitting stay away from strict “daycare” centers. If you want to see if you can teach that age range (infant – 6yr), try to find a “childcare” or “early learning center” that focuses on the child’s education. Try getting involved in your local recreation department activities (I started by working summer camp for preschoolers). Once you get to college get as much in school experience as you can. Build good support systems and networking connections. When it comes time to find a job, good luck! Some states are short on jobs for early childhood teachers because there are so many of us around.
