Question by Sarah W: Does Child tax credits and Other benefits take into consideration maintenance payments?
Id Like to know if Child tax credits, Income support, Child benefits take into consideration maintenance when Processing a claim, I have been told No but have since heard diffrent, Can someone Please help me?
Its just child tax credits Not working tax credits I will recieve.

If you claim child tax credit and income support then you will more than likely have a £5 per week automatically taken from your income support to pay maintenance to another child not living with you.
Tax credits don’t normally affect it as it is a supplement for you and your child to live on.

Maintenance payments are NOT taken into account for working tax credit or family tax credit. Since 27th October 2008 maintenance is NOT taken in to account for housing benefit or council tax benefit purposes either. It is taken into account for income support purposes, although not the first £20 per week. Think you mean family tax credit – child tax credit was something else and no longer exists.
