Daycare Fundraising – What Makes A Good One?
Because daycare fundraisers can be very tricky to organize, you will need a good daycare fundraising idea to utilize to make the event a success. Of course, profitable daycare fund raising ideas can be hard to come by, but it is very beneficial to use only the good ones for maximum results.
Many daycare fundraisers settle for mediocre and uncreative ideas, only because they cannot think of any good idea for a daycare fundraising activity. In any case, what are the characteristics of a good daycare fund raising idea? And what are the fundraising ideas that would normally work on typical fundraisers but would not for a daycare fundraiser?
Minimal Cost
As with most fundraising events, the best day care fund raiser plan is the one that would not require the organizers to have money upfront. Daycare centers usually hold sales in order to collect funds. This can work, if the items in the sale are not bought by the organizers themselves. When they buy the items to be sold in the fundraiser, they will need to have the money for the payment of the goods.
This may work if the daycare center has sufficient funds, but there is also a chance that the endeavor might fail, especially if the daycare fundraisers were not able to sell all of the items on sale – and, chances are, they won’t.
It is best to hold sales where the items are collected through donations. For example, the daycare center can hold a bake sale where the items on sale are donated and provided for by the parents. This way, the daycare will not need to spend a single cent. The daycare center can also ask for used items from parents. Toys, old but still serviceable clothes, gadgets, among others, can be dropped off in a certain day, and then sold in an auction or a sale during another.
There are also professional fundraisers that can help the fundraiser. These groups sometimes do not require an upfront payment; just a pre-determined amount or percent of the revenue earned during the event. With this, the center will not take out a dollar from their funds.
Minimal Effort
Since the main market of daycare fundraising events are families and children, it is best to organize children-friendly activities or events where the parents and their children can enjoy together. Daycare centers can hold small benefit dinners, which their children helped prepare (of course, adult supervision is required here, as well as the permission of the parents, to prevent any accidents and complaints).
Considering the date and venue of the event is also an important decision – and therefore also an important factor. It is best to hold these events on a weekend, when the parents and the daycare center itself are free. On weekends, the organizers can expect the parents to attend (especially if they are informed beforehand).
Lastly, the daycare fundraiser should be a day of fun – not a moment of pressure and problems. The daycare fundraising idea, and, in turn, the event itself, should be light and pleasurable. The fundraiser (its results and the event itself) is for the children, after all.
