Summer Mulcahey learned to trust no one but herself at a young age. Her “take no prisoners” attitude led her to a career in the FBI. Her current assignment was to protect Sophy and Audra O’Connor, the children of Cara O’Connor who is the youngest ever female Assistant DA in San Francisco. Cara is dealing with a high profile case involving Richard Costello, big time bad guy. While Costello is trying for an appeal, someone is sending threats (in several different ways) to Cara. Fearing for her daughters, Summer is put on the job. The problem is Summer’s cover. She is to be the girls’ nanny! Summer knows nothing about raising children, and less than nothing about ballet lessons and teenage troubles. The older daughter is dealing with normal fifteen-year-old crisis problems and the younger daughter has special talents no one knows of. Then there is Gabe, the guy who handles landscaping and general contracting. There is just something different about him. For a “gardner” he is just too efficient. Gabe Morgan is actually Navy SEAL. Senator Tate Winslow is soon to marry Cara O’Connor. Tate knows something is wrong, but Cara insists it is nothing. Tate asks a personal favor of Gabe, who is recovering from knee trouble. Gabe is mainly to secure the O’Connor home and grounds, but to also keep an eye on the people that reside within. But the new nanny is unlike anyone Gabe has ever met and Audra is just full of pranks. Costello’s reach is long, even from a prison cell. Summer and Gabe must team up to keep the O’Connor family safe. Ishmael “Izzy” Teague is called in by Gabe for his hacking and computer skills. But even with all three of them on the job, the O’Connor family is in trouble. (…)Gabe is not the only one recovering from an on-the-job wound. Summer has major physical scars that she just has not found the time to deal with. They cause some tense moments in the novel. As for the two little girls, they often stole the show, especially younger Sophy. I sincerely hope an adult version of Sophy will someday have her own story. There is lots of potential items to work with in that character. As always, Skye’s talent clearly shows in the story. Every character has his or her own quirks. Romances are built up at a great pace, just as the action and suspense are. This author is not one to be missed!(…)

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this book that some heavy editing wouldn’t fix. While filled with likeable characters and done in a decent prose, as a whole, the book was disjointed and dragged on, after a clumsy stumble. The story begins when FBI agent Summer Mulcahey starts her new assignment posing as a nanny to keep a junior prosecutor and her two children safe. She meets Navy SEAL Gabe Morgan when he strolls naked out of her shower, victim of a prank by Summer’s charges, Audra and Sophy. Audra is your typical sullen teen. Sophy is a quirky little girl with psychic powers. Their mother, Cara O’Connor, is engaged to a presidential hopeful and in the midst of prosecuting a very dangerous man. On the heels of the shower incident, Gabe and Summer get locked in a garden shed and find themselves getting hot and bothered while Gabe helps her out the roof. They wind up working closely together when it’s revealed Gabe was hired by Cara’s fiancĂ©, Senator Tate Winslow, to keep her family safe. They have a few hair-raising adventures, but the story is bogged down by too many touching family moments. I don’t think the author is adept at keeping more than one story going at a time, but it’s manageable. Our hero and heroine bring things to a head when they go on a spying mission to Mexico and get chased by the bad guys. We go through the typical separation of Gabe and Summer when their assignment is over, but their reunion goes awry. Summer hunts Gabe down to declare her feelings, and this is when the story should have wrapped. Unfortunately, in an attempt to be “different,” the book gets horribly clumsy and starts to drag. We have our false reunion, followed quickly by the real reunion, which makes us wonder why the false reunion was even necessary (it wasn’t), just before the wedding of Cara and Tate. I got the impression the author was much more fond of her characters than I was and couldn’t bear to let them go. Despite its flaws, however, the book was not badly written. It just needed a committed team of ruthless editors to clean it up.

I don’t see what some other reviewers said. This book was a fast read and very hot. The FBI agent was a different touch, and the kids were funny. I think having two sets of lovers in the book was a great touch.Add in Izzy……and what more could you want!I can’t wait for the sister’s story.

I normally love Christina Skye’s books, especially when they are about Navy SEALS. However, this book can be summed up in one word – boring! It’s extremely repetitive, right down to constantly telling the reader what the two main characters do for a living. We’re reading the book, good chance we know from the beginning! I honestly couldn’t finish it. I was so disappointed. I felt as though the publisher gave Christina a deadline and she just threw something together. In all fairness, I couldn’t write even a bit of what she did, so I shouldn’t complain. Stick with her previous novels and hope that the book featuring Izzy, if ever there is one, is as delightful as her books before Code Name: Nanny.

I read this book in two days…I just couldn’t put it down. This was my first Christina Skye book and after I finished it, I went and got several of her other books. This is by far my favorite one though. Summer and Gabe are a splendid couple with their own little quirks and complications. Gabe, the hard Navy Seal, and Summer, the cold FBI agent, make an interesting match. I never really enjoyed books with combat talk and situations, but this one just reeled me in. From Gabe and Summer’s first steamy encounter all the way to the shocking ending, I was riveted. And who could forget the ever-lovable Izzy? Try this book out as it is sure to be a winner! And don’t forget to check out Skye’s other books as well, as they are just as good!
